“This is my gospel,” the resurrected Savior said to Nephi and the other disciples whom He chose to lead His church in the Ancient Americas.

In this final episode of the fourth season of the Book of Mormon Videos, a depiction of 3 Nephi 27 shows Jesus Christ teaching and resolving some disputes among those who are organizing and administering in the church. The episode was released on Friday, Nov. 25.

Immediately after appearing, the Savior declares that the church should be called after His name because it is His church.

After answering questions from Nephi, the Savior addresses his disciples reassuring them that they know the things they must do.

“This is my gospel; and ye know the things that ye must do in my church; for the works which ye have seen me do that shall ye also do; for that which ye have seen me do even that shall ye do” (3 Nephi 27:21).

He tells them that following His example will result in being “lifted up at the last day” (3 Nephi 27:22) and that they should write down the things He taught them.

At the conclusion of the Savior’s appearance, He tells the disciples to ask Heavenly Father their questions and that they will receive answers from Him.

The Book of Mormon changes lives

While visiting the Motion Picture Studio earlier this year, Sister J. Anette Dennis said she is grateful for the Book of Mormon because of the effect she has seen it have on people’s lives when they read it.

“It has changed their lives,” she said, remembering some of the individuals she met while serving in Ecuador who read the Book of Mormon.

“Their lives changed. It was so visible — how their lives changed. Everything around them kind of upgraded.”

Sister Dennis, first counselor in the Relief Society general presidency, wasn’t talking about the material possessions of those she met. She was talking about their spiritual countenance.

“It was an amazing thing to see the light in their eyes, and it’s the Book of Mormon that is key in that because it brings us closer to the Savior. And the Savior is the one that changes lives.”

Elder Michael A. Dunn, a General Authority Seventy, was also on set the same day as Sister Dennis. He said the scriptures are sacred and that the responsibility of depicting something that the Book of Mormon’s readers have already pictured in their minds wasn’t taken lightly by the production crew.

“It’s been a really powerful experience to see how these things come to life in such profound ways,” he said.

Elder Dunn worked on many multimillion dollar film and video projects in his professional career, but he said this project came with a different kind of pressure.

“In this case, good enough isn’t going to cut it. It has to be accurate,” he said. “If the audacious claim is that the Book of Mormon is the most correct book of any on earth, I think we don’t need to make too big of a leap of logic to say the videos have to be that the most accurate as well.”

Season four was one that Elder Dunn said had a potential impact on viewers regardless of whether or not they had read the Book of Mormon previously.

“I don’t care what language you speak, once you see this depiction of Jesus Christ’s ministry among people, that’s going to relate, and it is really, really powerful.”

The schedule for season five’s release has not yet been announced.
