Back-to-back devotionals with Church members living in Seattle, Washington, and Langley, British Columbia, Canada, meant President Russell M. Nelson spent the evenings of Sept. 15 and 16 with more than 55,000 people.
Joining President Nelson were his wife, Sister Wendy Nelson, and President Henry B. Eyring, second counselor in the First Presidency. The first devotional, the largest non-sporting event ever held at Safeco Field, brought more than 49,000 people to the Seattle stadium. Crowds again filled the Langley Events Center just one day later as President Nelson met with Church members in British Columbia.
“The chance I got to be among the 49,089 Latter-Day Saints gathered together last night is one of the choicest of my life … especially because we had the prophet of the Lord and one of his counselors in our midst," said Gary Bernard on Instagram. "The opening song was 'Now Let Us Rejoice,' and I really can't imagine a more fitting hymn to describe the experience. I honestly rejoice at the opportunity to #followtheprophet.”
Many in attendance took to social media using the hashtag #followtheprophet during and after both meetings to share what they learned from the prophet’s visit. Many of the messages online were posted on the stadium's giant video board during the Saturday evening event.
