The Church announced on Feb. 15 that full-time missionaries can communicate with their families each week via text messages, online messaging, phone calls and video chats in addition to letters and emails. Missionaries will be able to contact their families on their preparation day and are asked to use good judgment in the length of their phone calls or chats. This change will be effective immediately.
Prior to this announcement, missionaries have only communicated with their families by phone calls or video chats twice a year on Christmas and on Mother's Day. Here's how Twitter has reacted to the news.
