Did you get the first Church News app notification? If not, does your app need an update?

Launching the release of the newest feature of the Church News app, the first ever app notification was sent out Friday afternoon, Nov. 22 — highlighting the First Presidency’s announcement of a session change to the upcoming April 2020 general conference, with the Saturday evening session available for all members of the Church, ages 11 and up.

If you have the Church News app on your smartphone and didn’t receive the notification, you likely either don’t have your app’s “enable notifications” feature on or you have an older version of the app that needs to be updated.

“Since we launched the Church News app, this has been our most requested new feature,” said Deseret News head digital officer Burke Olsen. “With app alerts, it’s never been easier to get the latest news about the Church.”

Church News editor Sarah Jane Weaver added, “As a ‘living record of the Restoration,’ the Church News continues its efforts to connect members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to news of the Church and its members. Now the ability to receive app pushes strengthens other recent efforts — including Spanish and Portuguese editions, a redesigned print edition, new web site and app.”
