Frankfurt Germany Temple to reopen for public tours after 4 years of renovations

The newly remodeled Frankfurt Germany Temple open house dates have been announced. According to Newsroom, the free public open house begins Friday, September 13, and runs through Saturday, September 28, 2019, excluding Sundays.

The temple will be rededicated on Sunday, October 20, 2019, in three sessions. There will also be a youth devotional with senior Church leaders on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

According to a Church News article, the Frankfurt Germany Temple closed in 2015 for renovations, just days after its 28 year anniversary. The temple was dedicated on Aug. 28, 1987 by President Ezra Taft Benson. It has served Latter-day Saints in Germany, Luxembourg, northern France and Slovenia for almost two decades. It was announced in April 1981 and four years later Church leaders broke ground in July 1985.

During the dedicatory prayer, President Benson dedicated the building to Heavenly Father and to Jesus Christ "as the house of the Lord where the fulness of the priesthood may be exercised" and prayed for its protection.

"We pray that Thou wilt protect it by Thy powerful hand," he said. "May all who look upon it regard it as a house of holiness. May all who enter its portals do so with clean hands and pure hearts, and with that knowledge of the eternal things of God which comes by the power of the Holy Ghost."

There are over 40,000 members of the Church in Germany in 159 congregations.
