Immo Luschin von Ebengreuth, 79, a former German translator for the Church, died Sept. 24 in Bad Vilbel, near Frankfurt, Germany. A convert to the Church in Graz, Austria, in 1960, he was called as a translator for the Church by President Alvin R. Dyer and worked in that capacity for nearly 30 years. He translated the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price into German, as well as Jesus the Christ and numerous other Church publications.
He also served as president of the Swiss Temple from 1972-77. Among his other callings were mission president's counselor, stake president's counselor, district president and branch president. He was a high councilor in the Frankfurt Germany Stake at the time of his death.- George L. Nelson, 101, former president and chairman of the board of the Deseret News Publishing Company (which publishes the Church News), died Sept. 22 in Salt Lake City. He served as a director of the Deseret News for 16 years and also had served as vice president. Brother Nelson was president of the Salt Lake Monument Park Stake for 18 years and was the first bishop of the Edgehill Ward. He was a patriarch at the time of his death. In June 1998, he was featured in the Church News as a faithful 100-year-old home teacher. (See Church News, June 6, 1998.)
