The construction of the Brisbane Australia Temple on a prominent site overlooking the river, Botanic Gardens and city center is moving along with the statue of the Angel Moroni placed on top of the 72-foot spire on July 16. The temple and adjoining meetinghouse will be clad in light gray-toned finish granite and set in landscaped stepped gardens, with underground parking for 130 cars. The temple should be completed in about eight months. The Brisbane temple was the first of the small temples to be announced for Australia in July, 1998. But planning approval for the temple and adjacent two-ward meetinghouse was not obtained until February 2001.
