Elder Gong, quarantining due to COVID-19 exposure, prerecorded his general conference message

Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles prerecorded his remarks for the Church’s 190th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“Out of caution, because he has been potentially exposed recently to COVID-19, Elder Gong is at home today,” said President Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor in the First Presidency, while conducting the Saturday afternoon session. “He feels fine, but he recorded his remarks earlier.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, general conference sessions — traditionally held in the 21,000-seat Conference Center — are being broadcast to a remote audience from the Conference Center Theater.

With the exception of Elder Gong, every member of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are participating live in the conference. Musical numbers for the sessions were also prerecorded.
