Robert M. Mills, area director in the North Central Region of the Boy Scouts of America, has been named national director of Scouting's Mormon Relationships.
He replaces John Warnick, who retired after serving for 12 years in the Salt Lake City-based position, which correlates the programs and the needs of the Boy Scouts of America and the Church.Pres. Mills is president of the Des Moines Iowa Stake, a position from which he is expected to be released in June. A professional Scouter for 31 years, he is a member of the General Scouting Committee of the Church and an adviser to the Young Men and Primary presidencies and boards.
He served in district- and council-level professional Scouting positions in Colorado, Missouri and Iowa before his most recent assignment overseeing Boy Scouts operations in Iowa and eastern Nebraska.
Pres. Mills has presided over the Des Moines stake for the past 1 1/2 years, and has also served as a high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop, Scoutmaster, Blazer Scout leader and Cub Master.
He is married to the former Donna Lou Homer of Salt Lake City, and they have six children.
