New temple president

Spencer J. Palmer, 60, called as president of the Seoul Korea Temple, succeeding Robert H. Slover. Pres. Palmer has served as a member of the religious education faculty at BYU since 1962. His wife, Shirley Hadley Palmer, will be temple matron. They are members of Edgemont 11th Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont South Stake. He serves as bishop of BYU Asian Ward in BYU 11th Stake, and has been a regional and mission representative of the Twelve, mission president, stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop and U.S. Army chaplain. He graduated from the University of California in Berkeley with a M.A. in Asian studies and a Ph.D. in history. Sister Palmer graduated from BYU in education in 1955. She has served as Primary and Relief Society president and teacher, and stake Young Women president's counselor. Parents of three children.
