Hymns on cassette now available

All the hymns in the LDS hymnbook have been recorded on audiocasette tapes that are available for sale from the Church Distribution Center.

"Finally, people who don't read music can learn the hymns in their homes," said Michael F. Moody, chairman of the General Church Music Committee. The hymns are recorded in stereophonic sound on 18 cassette tapes, with approximately 45 minutes of material on each side of a tape.

Bound in a plastic case with a color photo on the cover, the hymns on cassette tape come in two versions - one with instrumental performances alone and the other with vocal performances added to the instruments.

Each hymn is performed with piano and string instruments, supplemented occasionally with other instruments such as flute or oboe. The vocal performances are by a mixed quartet.

The hymns are placed on the tapes in the same order in which they are printed in the hymnbook, beginning with "The Morning Breaks" on Tape 1 Side A, and ending with "God Save the King" on Tape 18, Side B.

Either version, instrumental or vocal, can be purchased for $15 from the Distribution Center. The stock numbers are VVOT1758 for the version with vocals and instrumentals, and VVOT2976 for the version with instrumentals alone.
