Pres. Wolfgang Paul of the Germany Dresden Mission and missionaries serving with him are enthused with their work and the success they have been enjoying since the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989. That historic event has expedited opportunities for missionaries to bring the light of gospel to people who have been denied the teachings of the gospel for nearly 50 years.
"The mission started with only eight missionaries when it opened on March 13, 1989," Pres. Paul related. "Now we have 140 missionaries, and we have baptized 1,100 persons. There are many wonderful stories of conversion and happiness."The people of Dresden, so long hidden from the beauties of knowing the Savior, are responding to the message of the gospel. They hunger for truth and accept the missionaries quite well," explained Pres. Paul.
