Harold Ivan Hansen, 78, director of the Hill Cumorah Pageant from 1937 to 1977, died June 23 in Provo, Utah.
He was assigned to direct the pageant while serving in the Eastern States Mission from 1937-40. He also began the first Independence Day Production in BYU Stadium in 1952. Brother Hansen taught drama and theater art at Utah State University, Michigan State University, University of Iowa and BYU. In 1971, he received BYU's Karl G. Maeser Distinguished Teacher Award.
