President Benson improves after bout with pneumonia

President Ezra Taft Benson, hospitalized Dec. 31 with pneumonia, continues to improve and is expected to return to his home soon, Bruce L. Olsen, managing director of the Church's Public Affairs Department, said Thursday, Jan 7.

His fever was gone as of Monday, Jan. 4, and he was able to sit in a chair most of the day on Jan. 5. That same day, he was taken off oxygen.The 93-year-old Church leader was upgraded from serious but stable condition to satisfactory condition on Jan. 5.
