Garnett Shupe
Married 70 years ago on Nov. 23, 1923, in Grecian County, Va., and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He farmed the mountain land in Grecian County, operated a sawmill and worked in a textile plant. For many years, she canoed the New River to teach in a one-room school. They were among the first members of the Galex Branch, New River Virginia Stake. She taught Relief Society and gospel doctrine classes, and he has been a faithful home teacher. Parents of three children (two living), they have eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
