Assistant directors of hosting named

Two couples - Lewis V. and JoAnn Nord, and Shigeki and Momoko Ushio - have been called as assistant directors of Church Hosting.

They will serve with Stanley M. and Mary Ellen Smoot, directors of hosting for the Church, and assist with headquarters hosting assignments. They will help oversee several other volunteer couples in providing hosting services to leaders of government, education, business, industry, religious denominations and other organizations who visit Church headquarters from throughout the world.Brother Nord, president of the Micronesia Guam Mission from 1989-92, is a former advertising and public relations executive, and a graduate of the University of Utah. He has been active in community affairs and has served as a ward clerk, branch president and high councilor.

Sister Nord attended Weber State College and Utah State University. She is a homemaker who has also given service to the community through volunteer work for a variety of organizations. She has served as Primary and stake Young Women president. The Nords are members of the Bountiful Hills (Utah) Ward and are parents of six children.

Brother Ushio, president of the Japan Osaka Mission from 1980-1983, is a retired insurance executive. He is a graduate of the University of Utah and has been active in civic affairs for many years. He has served as a counselor in a bishopric and a high councilor.

Sister Ushio is a homemaker who also worked in a family catering business. She has given community service in many organizations and served as Young Women president, and ward and stake Relief Society president. The Ushios, of the South Cottonwood (Salt Lake City) 7th Ward, are parents of four children.
