New presidents of Lambda Delta Sigma, the Church sorority for college women, and Sigma Gamma Chi, the Church fraternity for college men, have been announced.
Maurine Johnson Turley has been named national president of Lambda Delta Sigma, and Gordon E. Mauss national president of Sigma Gamma Chi.Also, Don C. Hunsaker has been named director of institute of religion activities and the Latter-day Saint Student Association.
Maurine Johnson Turley is a member of the Oak Hills Ward, Bountiful Utah Central Stake; former counselor to Ardeth G. Kapp in the Young Women general presidency from 1984-1987, served with husband when he presided over Arkansas Little Rock Mission from 1987-1990, former ward Relief Society president and stake Relief Society counselor, ward Young Women president, choir director, seminary and institute teacher; married Robert S. Turley.
Gordon E. Mauss is a member of the Brighton 8th Ward, Salt Lake Brighton Stake; recently released as president of the New York Rochester Mission, former counselor in stake presidency, bishop and full-time missionary; currently associate director of the Salt Lake Institute of Religion adjacent to the University of Utah, member of Sigma Gamma Chi and Delta Phi Kappa fraternities; married Barbara Bastian.
Don C. Hunsaker served as president of Arizona Holbrook Mission from 1978 to 1981; former regional representative, stake mission president, counselor in two mission presidencies, bishop and counselor in bishopric; retired seminary principal, CES area director and district coordinator; married Donna Nelson.
