The First Presidency has announced the call of W. Garth Andrus, to serve as president of the California Oakland Mission. Pres. Andrus, who began his service on Sept. 17, succeeds Pres. Robert A. Madsen, who was released for health reasons.

former president of the Philippines Manila Mission and counselor in California Oakland Mission, former president of Manila Philippines Temple, administrative assistant in Salt Lake Temple, director of Nauvoo Visitors Center, high councilor, and bishop; attended Utah State University; former regional manager of telegraph company; born in Marion, Utah, a son of Willard Oscar and Gwendolyn Williams Andrus; married Eloise Adamson, six children. She is a former temple matron of Manila Philippines Temple, ordinance worker and administrative assistant in Salt Lake Temple, stake Relief Society president, ward Relief Society president, counselor, and teacher, ward Primary president, and served with husband at Nauvoo Visitors Center and in Philippines Manila Mission; attended Ricks College; former elementary school teacher; born in Menan, Idaho, a daughter of Ernest Dugal and Bessie Campbell Adamson.
