Official policies and announcements

To be a teacher is a great and sacred responsibility. To be an effective teacher, a member must live worthy for the influence and direction of the Spirit and must make prayerful preparation. The Lord has counseled, "If ye receive not the Spirit ye shall not teach." (D&C 42:14.) It is this Spirit that teaches us "all things." (Moro. 10:5.) When both the learner and teacher are filled with the Spirit, "both are edified and rejoice together." (D&C 50:22.) No learner or teacher should attempt to receive or convey an understanding of the gospel without the Spirit.
