Music from Primary songbook now available on tapes or CDs

The songs from the "Children's Songbook" are now available on audiocassettes or compact discs at the Salt Lake Distribution Center.

The collection, entitled "Children's Songbook, Audiocassette and CD," is designed for song accompaniment, listening and background music. Members can purchase the collection for $7, which includes eight audiocassettes or five compact discs, with music only or with words and music."Our prayer is that this collection will help teach the gospel in home and Church settings and help families learn the children's Primary music," said Betty Jo N. Jepsen, first counselor in the Primary general presidency. "The more we are familiar with the music, the more we enjoy it."

She explained that the voices on the collection are of children from Utah towns ranging from Provo to Logan. "They were chosen because they exemplified the way we wanted the music to sound in Primary," she added.

Merrill Jensen, who produced the collection, said musicians from the Utah Symphony and other professional freelance musicians from throughout Utah combined to produce the music.

Brother Jensen, who also produced the music for the Church film "Legacy," said: "The Primary songs are really inspired. It was one of my most enjoyable projects since `Legacy.' "
