Tabernacle ceiling repainted; historic building reopened

The Tabernacle on Temple Square is now at a back-to-normal schedule after being closed since Dec. 28 for repainting of the ceiling, announced Temple Square officials.

The historic building reopened Feb. 2 for limited evening hours and returned to normal hours Feb. 6.There were no activities in the building during the painting because scaffolding was necessary for the project, officials said. (See Church News, Dec. 19, 1992.)

Feb. 6 was the first Sunday since the closing that "Music and the Spoken Word" was broadcast from the Tabernacle.

During the closure of the building, videotaped highlights of previous "Spoken Word" programs were broadcast, and the Jan. 3 program was videotaped in Jerusalem while the Tabernacle Choir performed there.
