New mission presidents

The First Presidency has announced the calls of eight more mission presidents. The new presidents and their wives will be assigned to specific missions later and will begin their service about July 1. Those called are:

Damasceno Moises Barreiro, 36, Ribeirao Preto Ward, Ribeirao Preto Brazil Stake; stake president, former stake president and counselor, bishop, and elders quorum president; served in Uruguay-Paraguay Mission; industrial business owner; earned degree in civil engineering; born in Durazno, Brazil, a son of Bartolo and Eromita Damasceno Barreiro; married Ana Presa Torres, four children. She is a stake Primary president's counselor, former stake Young Women president, ward Relief Society president, and Primary president; born in Pan De Aqucar, Brazil, a daughter of Uberfil and Rosalia Presa Torres.G. Wayne Boam, 52, Taylors Grove Ward, Taylorsville Utah Stake; Sunday School teacher, former stake president's counselor, stake mission president's counselor, high councilor, and bishop; served in South German/Bavarian Mission, 1961-63; staff veterinarian and owner of two veterinary hospitals; earned bachelor's degree from Utah State University, master's and doctor of veterinary medicine degrees from Michigan State University; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Grant Odell and Afton Gold Boam; married Sharon Hintze, five children. She is a Sunday School teacher, former stake Relief Society president's counselor, ward Relief Society president and teacher, visiting teaching supervisor, Young Women president's counselor and teacher; veterinary hospital office manager; attended BYU; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Leslie Teancum and Audra Elizabeth Call Hintze.

John M. Cyrocki, 63, Longwood Ward, Lake Mary Florida Stake; stake president, former stake president, bishop and counselor, ward executive secretary, ward mission leader, branch president, and ward Sunday School president's counselor; partner in laser photo print business; attended Kings Point Academy; born in Jackson, Mich., a son of John and Harriett K. Cyrocki; married Colleen Nancy O'Brien, two children. She is a Relief Society president's counselor and Sunday School teacher, former stake Relief Society Board member, ward Relief Society president and teacher, Young Women president, Primary teacher, and ward activities comittee chairman; attended Bishop School of Design; born in Saginaw, Mich., a daughter of Thomas William and Georgia Isabel Doyle O'Brien.

Blaine T. Hudson, 63, Alpine 1st Ward, Alpine Utah Stake; Sunday School teacher, former temple ordinance worker, high councilor, seventies president, bishop and counselor, elders quorum president, Young Men president, priests quorum adviser, and Sunday School teacher; served with wife in Ireland Dublin Mission, 1986-88; president and owner of printing company; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of LaFaunce D. and Alverda Turner Hudson; married Barbara Hatch, eight children. She is a Relief Society teacher, former temple ordinance worker, and has served in various other auxilaries; served with husband in Ireland Dublin Mission, 1986-88; attended Brigham Young University; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Ford B. and Leah Kathleen Fisher Hatch.

Carlos R. Merino D., 38, Morelos 1st Ward, Monterrey Mexico Morelos Stake; bishop's counselor, former regional representative, stake president, and high councilor; manager at government Human Resources Center; earned accounting degree from the Superior Commerce School; born in Toluca, Mexico, a son of Rafael Merino T. and Maria Elena Dominguez R. Merino; married Adriana Ibarra L., three children. She is a ward Primary president, former stake Relief Society president and stake Primary president; primary school director; earned degree from Superior Normal School; born in Monterrey, Mexico, a daughter of Jose Santos Ibarra M. and Virginia Lucio G. Ibarra.

R. Dean Olson, 63, Santa Ana 2nd Ward, Santa Ana California Stake; bishop's counselor, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, stake executive secretary, stake mission president, bishop and counselor, ward Sunday School superintendent and teacher, teacher's quorum adviser, assistant varsity coach, and Scout committee member; served in Norway Mission, 1949-51; retired engineering manager; earned bachelor's degree from the University of Utah, master's degree from the University of Southern California; born in Eureka, Utah, a son of Roland Lars and Estella Jane Goddard Olson; married VaLoye Roos, seven children. She is a stake missionary and ward and Sunday School organist, former board member of stake Relief Society and stake Young Women, ward Relief Society president and board member, and nursery leader; born in Boulder City, Nev., a daughter of Joseph LeRoy and Wanda Leora Clement Roos.

Grant M. Patch, 62, Midway 4th Ward, Midway Utah Stake; stake mission president's executive secretary and Primary pianist, former high councilor, bishop and counselor, branch president, high priests group leader's counselor, elders quorum president, and Sunday School president; served in Northern States Mission, 1949-51; president of credit union; earned bachelor's degree from BYU; born in Minneapolis, Minn., a son of Renford Matthew and Irma Martonne McKeever Patch; married Marna Muhlestein, seven children. She is a Primary teacher, former stake, district, and ward Relief Society president and teacher, Young Women president and counselor, branch Primary president's counselor, and Primary teacher; high school principal's secretary; attended BYU; born in Provo, Utah, a daughter of George and Ella Armitta Clark Muhlestein.

Roberto Rubio, 61, Magdala Ward, Bogota Colombia Stake; bishop's counselor, former mission president's counselor, stake president's counselor, bishop and counselor, ward and district mission leader; Church legal representative for Colombia; earned bachelor's degree at Camilo Torres College and law degree from the University of Colombia; born in San Juan de Rioseco, Colombia, a son of Luis Alberto and Edelmira Ramirez Rubio; married Leonor Barco, two children. She is a Sunday School teacher, former Relief Society president and counselor, and Primary president; earned bachelor's degree from the Colegio Nuevo Gimnasio; born in Bogota, Colombia, a daughter of Virgilio and Isabel Barco.
