Joseph Smith was promised by the Lord, "And it shall be givern thee in the ver moment what thou shalt speak and write, and they shall hear it, or I will send unto them a cursing instead of a blessing." (D&C 24:6.)
On appropriate occasions, the same promise of inspiration is available to members of the Church, but it is conditional upon personal worthiness.In general conference of October 1979, Elder Boyd K. Packer of the Council of the Twelve admonished young people to "stay in condition to respond to inspiration" by heeding the Word of Wisdon and other counsel.
"When you become a father or mother,' he said, "don't live so that your children go unled because of habits that leave you unispired.
"The Lord has a way of pouring pure intellignece into our minds to prompt us, to guide us, to teach us to warn us. You can know the things you need to know instantly! Learn to receive inspiration.
