Ricks College music students to perform original sacred work

An original sacred work, written by LDS composer Crawford Gates, will be performed by Ricks College music students in Salt Lake City, Logan, Ogden and Provo, Utah, beginning March 17.

The 40-minute musical piece, entitled "Visions of Eternity," will be performed by the college's Symphony Orchestra, A Cappella Choir and the Concert Chorale. Kevin Call of the college's music department will direct the performance.Brother Gates, who composed the music for the Hill Cumorah Pageant, used the 76th section of the Doctrine and Covenants as text for the religious musical work.

This year's performance will premiere at Ricks College March 16. The musical work will be performed at Kent Concert Hall at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, March 17; the Salt Lake Tabernacle, March 18; Ogden Tabernacle, March 19; and BYU's De Jong Concert Hall, March 20.
