Following are various quotations from Church leaders that apply to Section 38, in which each member of the Church is commanded to:

Cannon, Gospel Truth 1:210.

Beware of pride. (v. 39.) "Essentially, pride is a my will' rather thanthy will' approach to life. . . . Pride is characterized by, What do I want out of life?' rather than by,What would God have me do with my life?' " - Ezra Taft Benson, April 1986 general conference.)

Raise voice of warning. (v. 41.) "We do not need to baptize all the world, but we do need to warn them and bring to their attention, in an effective manner, the blessings available to them, and the regrets and deprivations which will follow a rejection of the plan of salvation." - Spencer W. Kimball, The Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, p. 545.

Go out from the wicked. (v. 42.) "True repentance is not only sorrow for sins, and humble penitence and contrition before God, but it involves the necessity of turning away from them, a discontinuance of all evil practices and deeds, a thorough reformation of life, a vital change from evil to good, from vice to virtue, from darkness to light." - Joseph F. Smith, Gospel Doctrine, pp. 100-101.

Be clean. (v. 42.) "A clean man is a national asset. A pure woman is the incarnation of true national glory."- David O. McKay, April 1965 general conference.
