The First Presidency has announced the call of eight more mission presidents. The new presidents and their wives will be assigned to specific missions later and will begin their service about July 1. Those called are:
Marco A. Cardenas, 33, Allende Ward, Mexico City Mexico Aragon Stake; stake president, former stake president's counselor, bishop and counselor, and elders quorum president; served in Mexico Torreon Mission, 1978-80; manager of real estate for the Church; earned industrial mechanic technician degree from ARMO and programs analyst degree from ICM of Mexico; born in Hermosillo, Mexico, a son of Reynaldo and Alicia Lopez Cardenas; married Ofelia Trejo, two children. She is a Sunday School teacher, former stake Young Women president's counselor, Relief Society instructor, and seminary and institute teacher; earned accounting degree from Camara de Comercio; born in Mexico City, Mexico, a daughter of Agustin and Rosa Maria Ruiz Trejo.Parley C. Hamblin, 60, Yreka Ward (Calif.), Medford Oregon Stake; stake president, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop and counselor, and Young Men president; self-employed glazing contractor, attended University of Arizona; born in Eagar, Ariz., a son of Roscoe and Dora Cardon Hamblin; married Katherine E. Goodwin, seven children, one deceased. She is a Sunday School teacher, former stake Relief Society president's counselor, ward Relief Society president, Sunday School teacher, and seminary teacher; earned bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada; born in Springfield, Mo., a daughter of Theodore Raymond and Neva Long Goodwin.
Karl C. Loveland, 57, Pocatello 44th Ward, Pocatello Idaho Tyhee Stake; counselor in the Idaho Pocatello Mission presidency, former mission president's counselor, stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop, elders quorum president, and Young Men adviser; self-employed rancher; attended Idaho State College; born in Pocatello, Idaho, a son of Chester and Sara Neeser Loveland; married Peggy Hall, five children. She serves with her husband in the Pocatello Idaho Mission, former stake and ward Relief Society president, stake public communication director, Young Women president, Relief Society teacher, and Primary teacher; attended BYU; born in Ogden, Utah, a daughter of Otis Wilford and Gwen Wilson Hall.
Carlos E. Madrid, 45, Redondo 1st Ward, Torrance California Stake; stake mission president, former stake mission president and counselor, bishop's counselor, ward executive secretary, elders quorum president and instructor, Young Men president, Sunday School teacher, and seminary instructor; served in Northern Mexico Mission, 1966-69; executive director of East Los Angeles Retarded Citizens Association, Inc.; earned bachelor's and master's degrees from California State University at Long Beach, and master's degree from UCLA; born in Redondo Beach, Calif., a son of Isabel Garcia and Glafira Estrada Madrid; married Linda Jean Grier, six children.
