A thought from the scriptures

Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself. - 2 Ne. 2:27

"We must know and understand the doctrines in order to be obedient, and we must be obedient in order to be free," said President N. Eldon Tanner, first counselor in the First Presidency, speaking in April 1978 general conference. "This appies to the laws of God and the laws of the land. . . ."Especially do parents have a responsibility to teach their children. A child must be taught the difference between right and wrong. . . .

"Let us never forget that we are the architects of our own fates. God is not responsible for the consequences of our acts. He gives us the word - the truth - and the rules to follow and the opportunity to learn and to act and to progress."
