The First Presidency has announced the calls of eight more mission presidents. The new presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Those called are:
Homero S. Amato, 44, called as president of the Brazil Salvador Mission; Jardim da Saude Ward, Sao Paulo Brazil West Stake; regional welfare agent, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, stake mission president, bishop, and elders quorum president; served in Brazil South Mission, 1970-72; earned business administration degree in Sao Paulo and MBA at BYU; executive vice president of recruitment and counsulting company; born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a son of Francisco Junior and Eulalia Salvador Amato; married Sandra Puerta, five children. She is a stake Young Women president, former Relief Society president, counselor and teacher, Primary president and teacher, and Jr. Sunday School coordinator; served in Uruguay-Paraguay Mission, 1969-71; born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a daughter of Jose Benjamin and Diva Staniscia Puerta.Modesto M. Amistad Jr., 40, Philippines Davao Mission; Tuguegarao 1st Ward, Tuguegarao Philippines Stake; stake president, former stake president's counselor, Sunday School president and teacher; earned bachelor's degree from Cagayan Teachers College and master's degree from St. Paul University of Tuguegarao; Church Educational System coordinator; born in Tuguegarao, Philippines, a son of Modesto Reogia and Victoria Mapagu Amistad; married Laura Moreno Donato, four children. John F. Charles, 48, Germany Munich Mission; Dornbirn Ward, Zurich Switzerland Stake; stake president's counselor, former high councilor, bishop, seventies president, ward mission leader, elders quorum president and counselor, German instructor at Missionary Training Center, and seminary teacher; served in Vienna Austria Mission, 1965-67; earned bachelor's degree from BYU and juris doctorate from the University of California at Davis; born in Alhambra, Calif., a son of M. Jean and Delpha G. Pruhs Charles; married Angelika Maria Woess, seven children. She is a Young Women president, former Relief Society president and teacher, Primary president's counselor and teacher, Young Women adviser, and Sunday School teacher; attended BYU; born in Linz, Austria, a daughter of Franz and Anna Pertlwieser Woess.
Eugene H. Findlay, 61, Texas Houston Mission; South Jordan 8th Ward, South Jordan Utah Stake; stake name extractor, former mission president's counselor, stake president's counselor, high councilor, and bishop; served in Eastern States Mission, 1951-53; earned bachelor's degree from BYU and master's degree from Arizona State University; executive director for the Utah Department of Transportation; born in Bloomington, Idaho, a son of Ralph and Lillian Farner Findlay; married Lola Louise Hartley, seven children. Blair D.
