Ricks students garner awards at conference

Students in the Ricks College agriculture program brought home 12 first-place awards and eight second-place awards from the recent Postsecondary Agricultural Student Organization's (PAS) national conference in Moline, Ill.

Included among the 17 Ricks students taking honors at the March 17-19 conference were Stan Erikson of Rexburg, Idaho, and Kip Schwendiman of Mesa, Wash., who were named the second place national team winners of the Agricultural Machinery Service Technician Award.The two demonstrated their skills during a four-hour, hands-on competition. Each received $300 in cash, and Ricks College was awarded $600 for the purchase of training aids related to agricultural machinery.

Among the other 15 Ricks students receiving awards or recognition was Duane Ball of Rigby, Idaho, who was elected national PAS vice president.
