The Most Rev. William K. Weigand, bishop of the Salt Lake Catholic Diocese, made the following statement regarding the centennial of the Salt Lake Temple:
"On behalf of the Catholic community I would like to congratulate The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the centennial observance of the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple. The temple has been a place of faith and a beacon of hope to LDS members throughout the world for these 100 years. It is probably Utah's most famous historical building, a true landmark in our midst. Having recently restored and rededicated our Cathedral of the Madeleine, I can speak with conviction about how important it is to preserve Utah's historic and artistic edifices. I commend LDS authorities for the recent refurbishment of the Salt Lake Temple and congratulate Mormons in general on the centennial of the temple's dedication."
