Administration of the sacrament is one of the most sacred ordinances in the Church. Every priesthood bearer who participates should understand that he is administering this ordinance on behalf of the Lord. He should do so in a solemn, reverent attitude.
Priests should administer the sacrament during each sacrament meeting and each fast and testimony meeting. Priests and teachers may prepare the sacrament. Priests, teachers and deacons may pass the sacrament. (Melchizedek Priesthood holders perform these duties when there are insufficient numbers of Aaronic Priesthood holders or when invited to do so under the direction of the bishop, but only on an occasional, not a regular, basis.)- Aaronic Priesthood Leadership Handbook
