Traveling in England on assignment, President Thomas S. Monson found his 66th birthday arriving about seven hours earlier than it would have back home in Utah, which is on Mountain Daylight Time.
President Monson, second counselor in the First Presidency, is accompanied in England by his wife, Frances.He was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Salt Lake City to G. Spencer and Gladys Condie Monson. He and Sister Monson were married Oct. 7, 1948, in the Salt Lake Temple.
He was called to the Council of the Twelve on Oct. 4, 1963, at age 36. He has served in the First Presidency since Nov. 10, 1985.
