Nineteen new temple presidents and matrons attended the annual temple presidents seminar, held at Church headquarters Aug. 17-19.
The new leaders, whose announcements were published earlier in the Church News, received instruction in matters related to temple administration.Most of the leaders are seasoned in Church administration. Two of the new leaders are General Authorities - Elder L. Lionel Kendrick and Elder Gerald E. Melchin of the Seventy, who will be serving with their wives, Sister Myrtis Kendrick and Sister Evelyn Melchin. One new president, Elder George I. Cannon, serving with his wife, Isabel, is a former member of the Seventy.
Of the 19 new temple presidents and matrons, five are non-English speaking.
The new leaders will begin their service about Sept. 1. Temple presidents and matrons generally serve for a period of three years.
