A thought from the scriptures

And in nothing doth man offend God, or against none is his wrath kindled, save those who confess not his hand in all things, and obey not his commandments.

Behold, this is according to the law and the prophets; wherefore, trouble me no more concerning this matter. But learn that he who doeth the works of righteousness shall receive his reward, even peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come. - D&C 59:21-23

"True religion to the Christian is demonstrated by a real belief in God and the realization that we are responsible to Him for our acts and conduct," declared Elder Howard W. Hunter of the Council of the Twelve at the October 1969 general conference. "A person who lives such religion is willing to live the principles of the gospel of Christ and walk uprightly before the Lord in all things according to His revealed law. This brings to a man or woman a sense of peace and freedom from confusion in life and gives an assurance of eternal life hereafter."
