When Mrs. Thomas L. Kane visited Utah in 1872, she accompanied Brigham Young's party on a grand tour of Mormon settlements. She thought it was interesting that whenever President Young blessed the food, he requested that all the foods be uncovered for the blessing, "even the glass top of the butter dish."
