And now, my dearly beloved brethren and sisters, let me assure you that these are principles in relation to the dead and the living that cannot be lightly passed over, as pertaining to our salvation. Regarding the organization of the Genealogical Society of Utah, Elder Russell M. Nelson said at October 1994 general conference: "Events of that historic year established family history research and temple service as one work in the Church. In the century since then much has been accomplished."
