Church News: About the cover

The Savior's birth was accompanied by the appearance of a new star in the heavens. Judy Law, a member of the Springville (Utah) 8th Ward, based her pastel painting upon the fulfillment of a Book of Mormon scripture: "And it came to pass also that a new star did appear, according to the word." (3 Ne. 1:21.)

"In my painting," Sister Law says, "Mary is quietly contemplating the bright and wondrous new star which has appeared in the heavens, announcing to all the world the birth of the precious little Son which she holds in her arms."Please see page 12 about the birth of Jesus to Mary.
