"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." - John 10:27
The gospel came to me in 1942, when many young men had been called to serve their country, and almost as many young women where in the mission field.
It was through two lady missionaries who were tracting the apartment complex where I and my family lived that I received word of the Church.
As I grew in knowledge and gained a testimony that the Book of Mormon was true, there were complications. My family was upset with me and opposed to my interest in the Church.
However, as I met with the lady missionaries for discussions and consultation, it was comforting to be in their presence. They understood my yearnings as I questioned why this was happening to me, and where it might lead.
They quoted this scripture, confirming to me that I was on the right course. I marveled that I was one of His sheep, that He had called me, and that I had heard His voice.
How glad I am that He sent the lady missionaries to find me just when I was looking for answers that no one else could give, and that I was ready to receive them.
There has never been a time when I doubted that the gospel as taught by the Church is God's plan for me - my way back to Him.
