Church News: Question of the week

What memorable event related to Relief Society occurred during the 100th anniversary of the Church in 1930?

(Answer on page 13)

(From page 2)

One of the events during the Church's centennial celebration in April 1930 was the opening of the Relief Society jubilee box which contained letters, photographs and memorabilia that had been gathered 50 years earlier by Sarah M. Kimball, then Relief Society general secretary. President Heber J. Grant; Elder Joseph Fielding Smith, Church historian; the Relief Society general presidency, then presided over by Louise Yates Robison; members of the general board; descendants of Sarah M. Kimball; and other early Relief Society leaders opened the container.

One item in the box was a letter written by Sarah M. Kimball, dated April 1, 1881, in which she expressed the hope and belief that "you are enjoying many advantages and blessings that were not enjoyed by your predecessors."
