New mission presidents

Six new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. They and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Their specific assignments will be announced later. The new mission presidents are:

Ramon A. Alvarez, 56, McLean 1st Ward, McLean Virginia Stake; counselor in stake presidency; former high councilor, bishop and counselor, and teachers quorum adviser; president and chief executive officer for Systems Requirements Services Association; attended City College of New York; born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, to Ramon and Carmen P. Matos Alvarez; married Jeanne M. Gross, four children. She is a family history center finance clerk and teacher; former stake Primary secretary, Young Women president, Primary president's counselor, Relief Society compassionate service director and visiting teacher coordinator; born in Stevens Point, Wis., to Elmer J. and Edna A. Possley Gross.Jack M. Bangerter, 68, Bountiful 34th Ward, Bountiful Utah Heights Stake; recently released Church service missionary; former host in Salt Lake visitors center, bishop, high priests group leader, Sunday School superintendent and counselor and teacher, Scoutmaster; retired president of trucking company; attended University of Utah and University of Colorado; born in Bountiful, Utah, to John Christian and Grace Lucile Monson Bangerter; married Connie Thompson, eight children. She was recently released as ward Relief Society president; former counselor in stake Primary presidency, Primary president, Relief Society and Primary inservice leader, Beehive House hostess, data entry worker for Family Records Extraction Program; graduate of LDS Business College; born in Bountiful, Utah, to Israel E. and Anna Marie Swensen Thompson.

Ronald R. Burke, 63, Edgemont 14th Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont Stake; high priests group secretary; former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop, branch president and counselor; director of career services at BYU; received bachelor's degree from University of Wyoming; born in Homedale, Idaho, to Rufus and Ella Cora Hoffman Burke; married Rene Joyce Rhead, 11 children. She is Relief Society homemaking leader; former counselor in stake Relief Society and Young Women presidencies, ward Young Women president, counselor in ward Relief Society presidency, and ward organist; attended BYU, Diablo Community College and Arizona State; born in Ogden, Utah, to Lewis Clifton and Maurine Hinckley Rhead.

Bradley C. Miller, 47, Oakville Ward, Mississauga Ontario Stake; counselor in Canada Toronto East Mission presidency; former counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop, deacons quorum adviser, Scoutmaster; agency director for LDS Social Services; received bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU and doctor's degree from Bowling Green State University; born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, to Carl John and Lorna Ann Hughes Miller; married Nancy Dianne Allen, five children. She is a counselor in ward Primary presidency; former ward Young Women president, counselor in Relief Society and Primary presidencies, Primary inservice leader, Mia Maid and Laurel adviser, and teacher in Sunday School, Relief Society, Primary, and seminary; received teaching certificate from Brock University; born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, to Kenneth Walter and Shirley Evelyn Crooks Allen.

H. Bryan Richards, 59, Holladay 26th Ward, Salt Lake Holladay Stake; regional representative; former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop's counselor, Young Men president; benefits administrator; received bachelor's degree from BYU; born in Salt Lake City to Horace B. and Carol R. Bryan Richards; married LynnAnne Taylor, eight children. She is ward Relief Society president; former member stake and ward Relief Society boards, counselor in ward Young Women presidency, and Sunday School teacher; received bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU; born in Provo, Utah, to Lynn Dixon and Celestia Johnson Taylor.

George F. Snell, 60, Kaysville 20th Ward, Kaysville Utah Crestwood Stake; counselor in stake presidency; former high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop and counselor, Sunday School teacher, Varsity Scout coach, and priests quorum adviser; director of family practice residency at McKay Dee Hospital and family physician; attended Johns Hopkins University and received medical degree from George Washington University; born in Flushing, Long Island, N.Y., to Earl Baddly and Olga Wunderly Snell; married Clara Olpin, eight children. She is ward Relief Society president; former stake Relief Society president, ward Primary president, stake and ward Primary inservice leader, counselor in ward Young Women presidency, Relief Society teacher, Mia Maid adviser, Primary organist, and Cub Scout den mother; received bachelor's degree from BYU; born in Heber City, Utah, to Joseph and Violet Larsson Olpin.
