National leaders are called for Church sorority, fraternity

New national vice presidents have been called for Lambda Delta Sigma, the Church sorority for college women, and Sigma Gamma Chi, Church fraternity for college men.

Vice presidents called to Lambda Delta Sigma are:Karen B. Fankhauser of the East Mill Creek 12th Ward, Salt Lake East Millcreek North Stake; former area, interchapter and chapter adviser for Lambda Delta Sigma, Church service writer, curriculum committee member, stake and ward Primary counselor, Relief Society teacher, Young Women teacher, seminary teacher; associate's degree from Ricks College, bachelor's degree in elementary education from BYU; married Edwin H. Fankhauser.

Judy S. Smith of the Willow Creek 3rd Ward, Sandy Utah Willow Creek Stake; former member of Young Women general board and of Church Curriculum Department writing committees, stake and ward Young Women president, ward Young Women counselor and adviser; served full-time mission to West Germany; bachelor's degree in history, geography, sociology from BYU; graduate work in Germany literature and drama history at University of Utah and BYU; married David K. Smith.

Shirley K. Van Wagenen of the Eagle Gate 2nd Ward, Salt Lake Eagle Gate Stake; former member of Young Women general board, stake Young Women president, ward Young Women counselor and adviser, stake Relief Society secretary, ward Relief Society president, ward Primary president; currently serving in Salt Lake Temple, Relief Society teacher and serves with husband as a resource to the Church Hosting Committee; studied at University of Utah; employed in career center at Viewmont High School in Bountiful, Utah; married Robert Van Wagenen.

Vice presidents/executive secretaries called to Sigma Gamma Chi are:

Robert C. Sloan of the Monument Park 1st Ward, Salt Lake Monument Park North Stake; former Sigma Gamma Chi vice president, bishop and elders quorum president; master's degree in business administration from University of Utah; insurance executive; married Janet Laughlin.

W. Jeffrey Marsh of the South Jordan Chattel Park Ward, South Jordan Utah Stake; former high councilor, bishop, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and has served on an instructional development committee for Melchizedek Priesthood general board; received doctorate from BYU in educational leadership and has spoken at Know Your Religion Lectures and Education Week at BYU; employed by Church Educational System; married Kathie Paul.
