Keith Maurice Engar, 70, former member of the YMMIA general board and the first chairman of the Church's general activities committee, died Feb. 9, 1994, in Salt Lake City.

Brother Engar was called to the YMMIA general board three times - in 1953, 1956, and 1972. When the general activities committee was formed in 1977, he was called to be its chairman.He served in several positions at the University of Utah beginning in 1951. For many years he was chairman of the theater department and then dean of the College of Fine Arts. He helped create the university's television station (KUED) and radio station (KUER). He retired in 1987.

He helped with development of the Church-owned Promised Valley Playhouse and directed productions of "Promised Valley" - a dramatization of the early history of the Church - for five years.
