New mission presidents

Six new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. They and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Their specific assignments will be announced later. The new mission presidents are:

F. Javier Barron R., 49, Benemerito 5th Ward, Mexico City Mexico Zarahemla Stake; counselor in Mexico Mexico City East Mission presidency; former counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, bishop, and high priests group leader; teacher in Church Educational System; received medical degree from Politecnico National Institute; born in Autlan de Navarro, Mexico, to Antonio Chavez Rodriguez and Maria Isabel Barron Rodriguez; married Adelina Garcia Rivas, five children. She is a counselor in Young Women presidency; former stake and ward Primary president, and Sunday School teacher. She received a teaching degree from Benemerito de las Americas; born in Colonia Dublan, Mexico, to Antonio Garcia Estrada and Manuela Rivas Carvajal Garcia.Stanley K. Bramwell, 64, Fairfield 3rd Ward, Fairfield California Stake; serving with wife in the Dominican Republic Santiago Mission; former counselor in mission presidency, counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, bishop, high priests group leader, district president, and branch president; retired salesman; received bachelor's degree from University of Utah; born in Garland, Utah, to Ernest and Odetta Mabel Hales Bramwell; married Dorothy Madsen, five children. She is serving with her husband in the Dominican Republic Santiago Mission; former stake Relief Society president's counselor, member of stake Young Women board, worker in stake family history center, district and ward Relief Society president, Young Women president, Primary president, Relief Society teacher, early morning seminary teacher; attended BYU and Utah State University; born in Brigham City, Utah, to Roland Adolphus and Abigail Rees Madsen.

James F. Killian, 62, Provo North 3rd Ward, Provo Utah North Stake; bishop; former high councilor, stake missionary, bishop and counselor, assistant high priests group leader, Young Adult teacher, Sunday School teacher, and branch president; retired seminary and institute teacher; received bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from BYU; born in Kaysville, Utah, to Rulon and Reva Loreen Sheffield Killian; married Dorothy Elaine Reed, 10 children. She is Relief Society homemaking leader; former stake Relief Society board member, stake missionary, Relief Society president and teacher, Primary president's counselor, and Cub Scout den mother; received bachelor's degree from BYU; born in Bridgeport, Neb., to Clarence William and Lena Mae Laing Reed.

H. Vern Payne, 57, Chelwood Ward, Albuquerque New Mexico East Stake; regional representative; former counselor in New Mexico Albuquerque Mission presidency, stake president and counselor, bishop, branch president, and ward mission leader; attorney; received bachelor's degree from BYU, juris doctorate from University of New Mexico, and master of laws from University of Virginia; born in Lordsburg, N.M., to Harry Vearle and Mandona Hanchett Payne; married Yerda Ruth Mason, eight children. She is Relief Society compassionate service leader; former member of stake Relief Society board, Family Records Extraction Program data entry worker , Relief Society president and counselor, Primary teacher, nursery leader; received bachelor's degree from BYU; born in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Herbert Spencer and Florence Hinckley Hoopes Mason.

Kay B. Rasmussen, 61, Montpelier 4th Ward, Montpelier Idaho South Stake; stake president; former high councilor, stake and ward Young Men president, bishop and counselor, Sunday School teacher, and seminary teacher; president and chief executive officer of Economic and Educational Development; received bachelor's and master's degrees from University of Utah; born in Paris, Idaho, to Royal James and Rena Bunn Rasmussen; married Jeanne Ida Hansen, four children. She is stake Relief Society homemaking counselor; former Relief Society president, Young Women president, Sunday School and Primary teacher, Mia Maid adviser; born in Provo, Utah, to Charles Henry and Erma V. Mecham Hansen.

H. Dwayne Sevenson, 61, McLean 2nd Ward, McLean Virginia Stake; missionary and counselor in South Africa Durban Mission presidency; former stake mission president, stake missionary, bishop's counselor, ward mission leader, and deacons, teachers and priests adviser; chairman of the board and founder of Marina Ventures International Ltd.; received bachelor's degree from BYU; married Carolyn Cottam, seven children. She is serving with her husband in the South Africa Durban Mission; former stake missionary, Relief Society president's counselor and chorister, music chairman, choir director, Sunday School chorister, Primary president's counselor and teacher, Laurel adviser, and seminary teacher; received bachelor's degree from BYU; born in Washington, D.C., to Clarence and Margery Brown Cottam.
