New stake presidencies

Two new stakes have been created in Mexico and California.

Elder Lino Alvarez of the Seventy created the Atlixco Mexico Stake, which includes the Alta Vista, Atencingo, Cabrera, Independencia, Madero, and the Metepec wards, and the Izucar branch.Elder John H. Groberg of the Seventy created the Yucca Valley California Stake, which includes the Desert Hot Springs, Twenty-Nine Palms 1st and 2nd, and the Yucca Valley 1st and 2nd wards.

Elsewhere, stakes were reorganized in Japan and Peru, and in Oregon.

ATLIXCO MEXICO: (Jan. 16, 1994) Created from the Atlixco Mexico District. President - Hector Garcia Ceballos, 43, electrical maintenance manager, former stake president counselor, district president counselor, high councilor, and bishop, married Alma Josefina Perez Hernandez. Counselors - Omar Villalobos Saunders, 30, finance director for Human Development state agency, former district president's counselor, high councilor, stake mission counselor, bishop's counselor, and elders quorum president, married Sonia Tavera Escarcega; Alfonso Popoca Cuautle, 29, refrigeration engineer, former district councilor, district executive secretary, and branch president, married Beatriz Ramos Lezanna.

YUCCA VALLEY CALIFORNIA: (Jan. 9, 1994) Created from the Palm Springs California Stake. President - Kipton Paul Madsen, 41, veterinarian, former stake president's counselor, bishop and counselor, high priests group leader, elders quorum president, and Young Men president, married Susan Kay Nicholes. Counselors - Paul Shawn Luke, 41, general building contractor, former high councilor, stake mission president and counselor, bishop's counselor, high priests group leader, and Young Men president, married Susan Pora Vickers; Edwin Lee Lowe, 51, veterinarian, former high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop and counselor, married Carla Vee Asay.

Stake reorganizations

LIMA PERU SAN LUIS: (Dec. 19, 1993) President - Antero Guevara Olano, 45, manager of company, succeeding Juan Manuel Huertas Marino; former high councilor, and bishop and counselor, married Inelda Vasquez Delgado. Counselors - Juan Manuel Rivera Poma, 48, manager of administration and systems, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, and stake mission president and counselor, married Juana Gladys Gavilano Oliver; Juan Eusebio Del Carpio Garcia, 55, business owner, former temple worker, mission president's counselor, stake president's counselor, high councilor, and ward mission leader, married Miriam Jesus Chiang Navarro.

THE DALLES OREGON: (Dec. 12, 1993) President - Robert Joseph Drake, 58, management consultant, succeeding David Duane Jones; former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop, and served full-time mission with wife in Bolivia, married Dorothy Jean Dickinson. Counselors - Thomas Gene Kennedy, 55, area administrator of Washington State Employment Department, former stake president's counselor, district high councilor, bishop and counselor, branch president, high priests group leader, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and seminary teacher, married Julia Mae Whitby; Willis Franklin Sintay, 49, owner of carpet cleaning business, former high councilor, stake mission president, and bishop, married Vera Delma Stewart.

TOKYO JAPAN: (Dec. 12, 1993) President - Kazuo Suzuki, 46, company executive, succeeding Masanobu Uchi-yama; former high councilor, bishop's counselor, elders quorum president and counselor, and Sunday School superintendent, married Miwako Katoh. Counselors - Naotaka Kubota, 48, secretary chief of steel company, former high councilor, bishop and counselor, high priests group leader, ward mission leader, Young Men president, and branch president, married Hiroko Takahashi; Ryozo Kakiki, 43, banker, former high councilor, bishop and counselor, ward clerk, and high priests group leader, married Yoshie Suzuki.

TOKYO JAPAN WEST: (Nov. 28, 1993) President - Seiichiro Utagawa, 42, translator, succeeding Fumihiro Shinagawa; former mission president and counselor, stake president's counselor, bishop, high priests group leader, and seminary teacher, married Mayumi Ikari. Counselors - Hiroshi Kishino, 52, company executive, former high councilor, bishop, branch president and counselor, and high priests group leader, married Misawo Tanaka; Hideki Aoki, 44, development team leader, former high councilor, bishop and counselor, ward mission leader, and elders quorum president, married Setsuko Hashimoto.
