LDS woman wins town council post

Giovanna Marino, Relief Society member of the Syracuse Branch, was recently elected vice president of the Syracuse Women's Town Council and will serve a three-year term.

A journalist and historian, she joins union and political leaders who were elected to other executive positions."The electors have great trust in the new executives, because of their personal civic commitment that has been shown over the years in their service for the community's benefit," said public affairs assistants, Eva Nubo and Silvia E. Boccheiti of the Syracuse Branch.

Television and newspaper coverage of the elections included mention of the Relief Society as the organization to which Sister Marino belonged.

The executives were elected by a vote of the town council, which includes representatives of political parties, cultural unions, voluntary service agencies, and companies and organizations.
