The Church has received official recognition in Cambodia, according to the First Presidency.
The announcement was made in a fireside address at BYU Sunday, March 6, by President Gordon B. Hinckley, first counselor in the First Presidency. (See accompanying story.) The recognition came on the previous Friday.Missionary couples called to Cambodia would perform Christian service work only and not proselytize - the same status as missionary couples currently serving in neighboring Vietnam.
