New mission presidents

Six new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. They and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Their specific assignments will be announced later. The new mission presidents are:

W. Clive Barney, 64, Layton 2nd ward, Layton Utah South Stake; stake president; former president of the Puerto Rico San Juan Mission, stake president and counselor, high councilor, stake mission president, and bishop; in-field specialist for Church Missionary department; received bachelor's degree from BYU; born in Los Angeles, Calif., to William Clive and Effie Ferieda Trabant Barney; married Jean Louise Kasparek, five children. She is Relief Society spiritual living teacher; former Primary teacher; attended BYU; born in David City, Neb., to Louis John and Josephine Horacek Kasparek.Wayne Mitchell Hancock, 62, Midland 1st Ward, Midland Michigan Stake; counselor in Michigan Lansing Mussion presidency; former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop and counselor, Sunday School teacher; vice president and general counsel of Dow Chemical Co.; received bachelor's degree from BYU and juris doctorate from University of Arizona born in Safford, Ariz., to Wayne Mitchell Pepper and Phyllis Lines Hancock; married Connie Ann Cameron, eight children. She is a Cub Scout den leader; former Primary president and counselor, Relief Society president and secretary, Relief Society teacher, Primary teacher and organist, and Cub Scout den leader, received bachelor's degree from BYU; born in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Edward Glen and Eva Christine Hansen Cameron.

Glen K. Lund, 63, Canyon Park Ward, Bountiful Utah Central Stake; bishop's counselor; former bishop's counselor, high priests group leader, branch president, Sunday School teacher, Scoutmaster, Varsity Scout coach, and servicemen's coordinator; physician; received bachelor's degree from BYU and medical degree from the University of Utah; born in Manti, Utah, to Melvin M. and Stella May Domgaard Lund; married Anne Nebeker, seven children. She is stake Sunday School secretary; former counselor in Relief Society presidency and Young Women presidency, Sunday School secretary, ward chorister, Relief Society and Young Women teacher; received bachelor's degree from the University of Utah; born in Ogden, Utah, to John Aquilla and Minnie Edna Holmgren Nebeker.

Richard B. Stamps, 51, Rochester Ward, Grand Blanc Michigan Stake; stake president's counselor; former high councilor, counselor in stake Young Men presidency, bishop and counselor, ward mission leader, and seminary teacher; anthropologist/archaeologist at Oakland University in Rochester, Minn; received bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU and doctorate from Michigan State University; born in Oakland, Calif., to Charles Hudson and Rachel Brown Stamps; married Marsha Iverson, five children. She is Relief Society president; former counselor in stake Relief Society and stake Young Women presidency, Young Women secretary, activities committee chairman, Beehive adviser, and Sunday School teacher; received bachelor's degree from Oakland University; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Wells and Faye Maxwell Nance Iverson.

Leo P. Talbot, 52, Moorabbin Ward, Melbourne Australia Waverly Stake; regional representative; former counselor in five mission presidencies, stake president's counselor, high councilor, district president, stake Young Men president, stake missionary, bishop, ward mission leader, and Young Men president; management counsultant; born in Melbourne, Australia, to Percy Henry and Doris Elizabeth Coyle Talbot; married Carmel Mirian Packham, four children. She is a counselor in the Primary presidency; former stake Young Women president, counselor in stake Relief Society presidency, stake missionary, and Relief Society president and counselor; born in Adelaide, Australia, to George and Veronica Mercer Thatcher Packham.

Roy R. Valantine, 63, Bloomington Hills 10th Ward, Bloomington Hills Utah Stake; assistant to high priests group leader; former counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, bishop, branch president, seminary teacher, and Sunday School teacher; dentist; received bachelor's degree from BYU and DDS and master's degrees from University of Southern California; born in Los Angeles, Calif., to Vernon Wilson and Ruby Potter Valantine; married Jane Dibble, four children. She is a Relief Society teacher; former counselor in stake Young Women presidency, Relief Socity president and counselor, and Young Women president; received bachelor's degree from BYU; born in Scotia, N.Y., to Edwin Smith and Ruth Emilie Gollaher Dibble.
