A six-member Ricks College construction management team placed third in the nation recently at the National Association of Home Builders national convention in Las Vegas.
More than 65,000 builders from throughout the world attended the conference Jan. 19-23, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, along with college students planning careers in the field of construction management. The Ricks College team competed against 15 other colleges and universities. The competition involved solving a construction problem. "They were given plans to a large home and asked to redesign it for a small lot," said adviser Rudy Puzey of the technology education and construction management faculty at Ricks College. "They had to completely redraw and redesign the construction project, complete with a total estimate."
The students presented their project to a panel of judges comprised of builders from throughout the United States.
The students received a plaque and a $500 check for their student chapter.
