Six new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. They and their wives will begin their service about July 1. Their specific assignments will be announced later. The new mission presidents are:
Allen C. Christensen, 58, Walnut Park Ward, Chino California Stake; counselor in California Riverside Mission presidency; former stake president and counselor, high councilor, bishop and counselor, high priests group leader, Sunday School teacher; dean of College of Agriculture at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona; received bachelor's degree from BYU, master's degree from University of California-Davis, and doctorate from Utah State University; born in Lehi, Utah, to Clare Bernard and Relia Sarah Allen Christensen; married Kathleen Ruth Atwater, five children. She is missionary companion to her husband and ward organist; former stake Relief Society compassionate service leader, stake YWMIA organist, counselor in ward Relief Society presidency, homemaking leader, and ward compassionate service leader; received bachelor's degree from BYU; born in Los Angeles, Calif., to Horace Logan and Sarah Hazel Smith Atwater.J.R. Eccles, 65, Eccles Park Ward, Ogden Utah Mount Ogden Stake; bishop; former counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, bishop, and Sunday School teacher; chief executive officer and founder of Management Sciences; received bachelor's degree from BYU and master's degree from University of Southern California; born in Ogden, Utah, to Royal and Cleone Rich Eccles; married Shauna Smith, three children. She is Relief Society organist; former counselor in stake YWMIA presidency, Sunday School teacher and inservice leader, and Primary inservice leader; received bachelor's degree from University of Utah; born in Ogden, Utah, to Samuel Joseph and Avera Marie Wright Smith.
J. Thomas Kallunki, 57, Edgemont 9th Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont North Stake; Young Men president; former high councilor, bishop, elders quorum president, Young Men president, teachers quorum adviser, and servicemen's group leader; assistant dean of student life at BYU; received bachelor's degree from University of Nebraska at Omaha and master's degree from BYU; born in Portland, Ore., to John Alfred and Claudia Cusick Kallunki; married Jennie Lee Garner, four children. She is ward Relief Society president; former stake Primary president, choir director, Blazer leader, Primary and Relief Society chorister, sacrament meeting chorister, and Young Women adviser; attended BYU; born in Rolla, Kan., to Henry and Avis Marie Friend Garner.
Lynn G. Robbins, 41, Centerville 21st Ward, Centerville Utah North Stake; bishop; former high councilor, stake assistant executive secretary, counselor in bishopric, counselor in elders quorum presidency, teachers quorum adviser, Scoutmaster, early morning seminary teacher, and branch clerk; co-founder and senior vice president of Franklin Quest; received bachelor's degree from Utah State University and master's degree from American Graduate School of International Management; born in Payson, Utah, to Joshua Grant and Evelyn Reed Robbins; married Jan Nielson, seven children. She is a Primary teacher; former Primary president, nursery teacher, Cub Scout den mother, counselor in Young Women presidency, Young Women secretary; received bachelor's degree from BYU; born in Provo, Utah, to James Grant and Ruth Hansen Nielson.
Ned B. Roueche, 59, Sunset Ward, Kaysville Utah Stake; adviser to Spanish branch; former counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, bishop, elders quorum president and counselor, teachers quorum adviser, and Young Men superintendent; retired field engineering manager for IBM; attended University of Utah and Weber State College; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leonard C. and Ruth Lee Roueche; married JoAnn Sheffield, five children. She is adviser to Spanish branch; former Primary president and secretary, Primary inservice teacher, counselor and secretary in Relief Society presidency, Relief Society spiritual living teacher, Laurel adviser, Sunday School teacher, and nursery coordinator; attended BYU; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Kenneth Heber and Lucile Beck Sheffield.
Thomas P. Smith, 47, Miami 4th Ward, Homestead Florida Stake; high councilor; former counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, bishop and counselor, Cubmaster, and Explorer adviser; vocational department head and teacher with Dade County Schools; received bachelor's degree from BYU, master's degree from Florida International University, and doctorate from Nova University; born in Washington, D.C., to Derryfield Nathaniel and Ruby DeLar Streeter Smith; married Marilyn Kay Stevens, two children.
