'If you keep the commandments, the Holy Ghost will stay with you'

When I hear the word "peace," I think of when Jesus came to America. He blessed and taught the people. When Jesus left, the people felt so touched that they kept the commandments for 200 years.

I also think about when Nephi and his brothers went back to Jerusalem to get the brass plates. Nephi was willing to do what Heavenly Father wanted him to do and Laman and Lemuel weren't. Nephi said, "I shall go and do what the Lord hath commanded." Nephi found peace when he kept the commandments. The Primary song "Keep the Commandments" also encourages me to keep commandments. This song tells you that when you keep the commandments, Heavenly Father will keep you safe, and you will receive peace.

Some people wonder where the first commandments came from. Not eating the fruit was one of Adam and Eve's commandments. The other was to have children so there would be more people on the earth that He created for us. Adam and Eve also found peace by keeping God's commandments.

People need to know where we can find the commandments. You can find them in the scriptures, Church publications, and in general conferences. People also need to know who the commandments came from. Heavenly Father gives them to the prophet, and the prophet gives them to us.

I felt the most peace when I was baptized. I felt very spiritual and clean. My baptism day was the day I received the Holy Ghost. If you keep the commandments, the Holy Ghost will stay with you. When we are baptized, we promise Heavenly Father three things. They are: 1) to accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, 2) to always remember Him, and 3) to keep His commandments. In return, Heavenly Father gives us the Holy Ghost.

I used to ask myself, "Why are we here?" Then I found out the four reasons why we're here. They are: 1) to be tested, 2) to keep His commandments, 3) to live with Him again, and 4) to gain a body.

The Lord once said, "If you love me, keep my commandments." Since I love the Lord very much, I am willing to keep His commandments.

One of the things that I'm looking forward to when I'm 12 is doing baptisms for the dead. If we keep the commandments, we will be able to go to the temple. I will keep the commandments because the temple is another place where I feel peace. Before the Las Vegas and San Diego temples were open, my family and I went and visited them. I felt very happy to be able to go there. I also feel peace when I go to the temples' visitors centers. The statue of Jesus Christ makes me feel very peaceful.
